Batam Shopping Center

Batam Island is without doubt one of the quickest rising vacationer destinations in Indonesia. It is located in the province of Sumatra, forming part of the numerous islands of Riau.  Batam has quite a lot of large shopping complexes scattered throughout its entirety. They have two big malls  located within the Nagoya City Area of Batam. NAGOYA HILL

 

Built in 2007, Nagoya Hill is a largest shopping mall in Batam, it is considered as most crowded and visited by local people in Batam because of the strategic location. Nagoya Hill also became a best choice for tourist destination and attracts lot of tourism in Batam. It is no wonder that the Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall is such a hit with both tourists and locals alike.
Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall is a shopping place that provides fairly complete retail goods with a relatively cheap price. The name of Nagoya Hill is originated from area city named Nagoya in Batam, this region which is also known as Lubuk Baja, and the mall was built in hilly areas is quite large, approximately: 8.9 acres.
Nagoya Hill is to apply the concept of City Walk, a mix of shopping and business means that both local and imported complete in one large area and can be visited on foot. This is a similar concept called as One Stop Travel Shopping.
In Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall superblock there are retail businesses ranging from a variety of electronic goods, clothes, bags, various kinds of food, movie theater or Cinema 21, Hypermart, a cafe with free internet connection, etc. It is equipped with lots of eating places that offer local cuisine from various regions in Indonesia as well as international cuisine.
There are various stores that sell a variety of needs such as clothing, accessories, sports equipment, supplies, etc. There are two big tenants in this mall: Matahari Department Store and Hypermart, giant retail store in Indonesia. Matahari provides high quality fashion products at an affordable price. You can find t-shirts, shirts, blouses, pants, shorts, lingerie, shoes, slippers, socks and kids fashion. Hypermart is largest retail in town which local people purchase their daily need, from fashion apparels, electronics products, grocery, fresh food, household furniture, home appliances, entertainment products and mini pharmacy.
Domestic visitors (from Jakarta) will usually visit to search for cell phone, because here the well-known and complete gadget which may not found in Jakarta. Because Batam is very close to Singapore, an item of goods in Nagoya Hill is not much different from the mall in Singapore and of course with a cheaper price. You can stop by to the Under Ground Floor for the electronics product like DSLR Cameras, Digital Cameras, Mobile Phone, Gaming Equipment, Computers & Laptop with very affordable price.
There is a food street which is located inside the building with an open indoor building; it is look like Bugis Junction in Singapore. There are a wide range of cafes, fresh fruit stalls, fresh cake and restaurants serving different cuisines to your taste like A&W, DingTea, Ochado, Shihlin (Taiwan Street Snacks), Ayam Penyet Ria (Traditional Fried Chicken), KFC, Solaria, Grand Duck, Ayam Goreng Fatmawati (various fried chicken, and side dish like fried tempe, fried tofu, etc), Shuang Hong Ba Kut Teh, Pizza Hut, Sun Bread and other local food.
If you are tired, and need a rest there, you could enjoy your coffee time at several hangout places, such as: J.Co Donuts & Coffee, Gadeno Pizza & Steak Menu, Coffee Town Kaya Toast, Bistro Godiva, Kangen Cafe, Enjoya Cafe, Uncle Yang, Enjoya (yoghurt and coffee), Coffee Luwak Cafe. Or you could consider watching a movie at Studio Hill 21 in toppest floor.
Batam Island enjoys a tropical climate all year round with an average temperature of 26 to 34 degrees celsius. In these hot days, you can chilled yourself with cold drinks, 5′c Fresh Tea, DingTea, Ochado, Teatag.

Batam City Square ( BCS Mall )

MEGA MALL BATAM CENTRE

Mega Mall Batam Center is one of the major malls in Batam. This mall is integrated with the Great Mosque Batam Center, Batam Ferry Port, the mayor’s office, the Office of Parliament, office of the Bank of Indonesia and with close proximity to the Batam Authority Office and modern residential complexes Coastarina.
Mega Mall Batam Centre is a central business area in Batam Island. Mega Mall shopping center built in the CBD (Central Business District) of Batam Centre, the mall is directly connected by a bridge connecting to the Batam Center Ferry Terminal, so it happens which many of those passengers while waiting ferry could take a walk or shopping to Mega Mall Batam Center, and having a lot of practical time for that.
Batam Center International Ferry Terminal which has now reached the capacity of the rotation tourists and businessmen from foreign countries and Singapore approximately ± 300,000 people per month are served by 98 transit trips per day with a ferry to Singapore – Batam Centre – Singapore or equal to 2940 trips per month.
And because of it is still a strategic location to downtown Batam, so many of tourists choose to stay at those quality Hotels surrounding, and visit Mega Mall Batam Center. There are Hypermart and Matahari Department Store and Cinema XXI in this mall, you can catch a movie there for Rp 40,000 / person (about SGD 5.10, price for weekend & holiday in July 2013). This four-storey mall has a bridge that connected directly with the Batam Center ferry terminal.
There are many options to do shopping or even just hang out in Mega Mall Batam Center. You can find a lot of fashion shop, toys shop, culinary shop, café etc. which offer you with cheap price compare with Singapore. It’s real place to do shopping.
And comparing with other shopping center, we could see Mega Mall could deliver elegant and exclusive shopping experience, and lot of international brands could be found there, such as: Levi’s, Wacoal, Starbucks, Polo, A&W, KFC, Baskin Robbins, Bread Talk, Pizza Hut, J.Co Donuts & Coffee, Black Canyon Coffee, DingTea.

POLO RALP LAUREN

Many fashion store and outlet here in Batam. One of infamous factory outlet in Batam is Polo Ralph Lauren outlet. Most of tour packages here in Batam always include this outlet into their packages.

Located at Batam Center, this outlet is the ONLY authentic Ralph Lauren Polo shop you can get in Batam, other than in the ferry terminals or boutique in shopping malls and the stuffs here are all at a discounted price. Most other shops sell it in cheap process but only mean one thing, it is FAKE. So, please be careful.

In this outlet, the price of a Polo Ralph Lauren clothes is about 1/3 to 2/5 of those in Singapore. The price here is about 60-80 SGD for a piece of shirt which is still relatively cheaper as compared to the prices in Singapore. And remember, this is the original Polo Ralphs Lauren ones. This factory outlet store not only sell Ralph Lauren products but also other export overrun products like Nautica, Ann Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and more.

As for question why Polo Ralphs Lauren here is very cheap comparing to Singapore, it’s because the American brand Polo Ralph Lauren were made in Indonesia, most likely in Jakarta and Bandung, so it cost much cheaper if it sell in Indonesia, at least there is no shipping cost.

There is a difference between American brand Polo Ralph Lauren and The Indonesian POLO is authentic as Only Indonesia. The Indonesian POLO is produced locally and registered in Indonesia long before Polo Ralphs Lauren penetrated into Indonesian market. The brand POLO actually refers to a local POLO brand and is original from that perspective, so it also cannot be stated as FAKE Polo since it not bringing the name of Ralph Lauren. But, once again, please be careful to choose.

However, for the Ralph Lauren products, you need to buy it from the shops which bear the full name Polo Ralph Lauren as due to copyrights law, Ralph Lauren is not able to use the term POLO in Indonesia by itself. So, don’t be scared to buy shirt from this outlet.
